Police Chief David Hall’s campaign manager insisted Tuesday that someone trying to damage Hall’s reputation in the mayoral race must have somehow sent a document with false credentials to the League of Women Voters.
Opponents of Hall had accused him of lying in LWV voting guide, which states Hall has a bachelor’s degree from Springfield College and a public adminstration master’s degree from Princeton University. Hall did not graduate from any college.
David Simpson, Hall’s campaign manager, has claimed that the version he sent was not the information published in the guide. The LWV maintains the only questionnaire it received was one that included degrees from Springfield and Princeton.
“Whatever this other questionnaire has with some phony degrees on it, it is out of character with the rest of the campaign and obviously didn’t come from the campaign,” Simpson said, noting that the erroneous information does not appear in any of Hall’s candidate literature.
