Seniors to get a hand in Rye
Former City Councilman Arthur Stampleman told me at a recent budget meeting that Rye has just formed “Aging in Place in Rye,” a task force dedicated to helping seniors stay in their homes as long as possible.
For a yearly fee yet to be determined, seniors can get help for day-to-day activities such as grocery shopping and getting to doctor appointments.
Similar groups have already launched in Bronxville and Greenwich and New Canaan, Conn. The Rye organization is now in the process of surveying seniors to find their needs and level of interest in the group.
