Port Chester High School is celebrating the restoration of its auditorium with a Winter Concert tonight at 7:30 p.m.
On the bill: the high school’s Select Choir, Women’s Choir, Concert Choir, Symphonic Band and Jazz Band. While listening to music on the new sound system, you can contemplate the original features including the restored windows, which had been bricked up in the 1970s, the blue velvet curtains, the gold PCHS crest and new seats and carpeting.
A $2.9 million state grant helped the district pursue a number of repair projects, the last of which is the auditorium renovation. The high school and its auditorium were built in the 1930s on the grounds of the old Tamarack Country Club.
