Originally planned for Jan. 11, Harrison is now making curbside pickup effective on Jan. 25.
To cut costs, Harrison has eliminated backdoor trash pickup and is now making residents put their garbage at the curb.
Supervisor Joan Walsh said it will save the town money in workers compensation claims from sanitation workers who injury themselves carrying cans.
The town is also modifying the routes, which means the time of collection and day of collection will change for some, according to the Town Website.
