Ravens’ Ray Rice to get New Rochelle fund’s Community Spirit award

Posted by: Laurel Babcock - Posted in New Rochelle on Mar 09, 2010

Just got this from Susan Weisman, executive director of the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence.
Pro Bowl running back Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens will be among the honorees at the March 25 New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence Gala at the Fountainhead in New Rochelle.
Rice, a 2005 New Rochelle High School graduate, helped the Huguenots capture the state championship in 2004 before moving on to a stellar career at Rutgers University and then joining the Ravens. Rice, who frequently visits the New Rochelle schools and whose mother works in the city school system, will receive the Community Spirit award.
Joining Rice as honorees will be Christopher Edley Jr., NRHS ’70, the dean of Berkeley Law School; Frank V. Miceli of Sammarco Stone and Supply, Inc.; and Meredith Adler Hilton, NRHS ‘72, chairwoman of the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence. This year’s student honorees are Isaac Assor, Itopia Mills, Kaitlyn Stillwagon, Oren Weiss and Yenet Zepeda.
Tickets to the gala, which include a cocktail hour, dinner, awards program and benefit auction, are $150 per person. For information about tickets or journal ads, call 914-576-4657, e-mail Susan Weisman at sweisman@newrochelle.k12.ny.us or visit www.nredfund.org.
