It’s no secret these days the town and village of Mamaroneck are working together to possibly purchase the Hampshire Country Club. This afternoon, both municipalities issued a public declaration saying they are interested in buying the 108 acre property in the Orienta neighborhood.
“There never has been any past official statement,” town adminstrator Stephen Altieri said. “Residents keep asking questions about it so we felt we should tell them we’re in this, we’re interested and we’re working on it.”
The asking price for the property is $14.9 million and town and village officials said they’d look at bonding the money should they decide to buy it. But from what I’m told by club members and the real estate company selling the property, this is far from a done deal because Mamaroneck definitely isn’t the only party interested in buying the land. It’ll be interesting to watch how this plays out in the coming months.
