Early Morning Driver Damages Closed Golf Course

A Mamaroneck town man allegedly drove onto and damaged the closed Hampshire Country Club early Tuesday morning police said.hampshire14312a_thumbnail

Police got a 1:33 a.m. call of a car on the Cove Road golf course doing “donuts”, spinning in circles on the vehicle’s rear wheels.

Police charged Giani Brussich, 20, of Mamaroneck town with felony second-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal trespass, both misdemeanors.

According to the charge, the damage done to the course minimally exceeds $1,500. The specifics were not stated in the police report.

This is the property that Mamaroneck town and village are interested in purchasing and that the club is anxious to sell to minimize continuing maintenance expenses.

Club president Stan Brettschneider had not heard of the incident before learning of it from The Journal News this morning.

“This is upsetting to hear,” he said and expressed puzzlement about why anyone would do this.

Brussich’s grey Volvo was found abandoned, police said, on the closed club grounds.

Police ran the plates, got his name and found him walking on the Boston Post Road near Orienta Avenue with a friend who they ultimately let go, police said.

At first Brussich said his car was at home, police said, but he had his car keys and a gravity knife in his pocket. Investigation established that he had driven onto the course.

Now I’m sure they will install a gate and make sure no one can access the property. It had been a really nice place to walk around in solitude.

DONUTS WITH A VOLVO???!!! This is a joke, of course.

This is terrible how this article makes this kid sound like a complete deviant. I am sure that this situation is no where near the level that this article, or even the village police department are making it out to be. I would like to point out how much of an investigation could the police have possibly conducted? it could not be a very conclusive investigation given the short amount of time, especially since this was from early Tuesday morning then into Tuesday’s paper/Tuesday’s post, so that is maybe a few hours of an investigation, give or take.

i think that this sounds like they are trying to get him to look like a criminal because he did some donuts on property that the Town and Village want, so they are ticked off about it and this is thier revenge. since when does a small patch of grass cost over $1,500?? and what is with the knife? what does that even have to do with the fact that someone did a couple donuts? was he stabbing the grass too? if he ruined the grass, make him pay for damages DONT make him a FELON! cause a young guy was having a little fun? granted it wasnt his property, but this article makes it sound like he is a violent felony offender and that is not right. and another thing, Why does it say early morning driver??? it says the police got a call at 1:33 AM so this happend even before that, um yes its the next day but it is in NO WAY morning yet, just goes to show that the person who wrote this clearly doesnt have a brain in thier head… who else would write and article about a person who wasnt even at the car in question and make them sound so criminal, i just hope they write another article explaining all the facts since this one clearly doesnt seem so cut and dry, there is somthing else going on here, but im sure the Mamaroneck police will do somthing to cover that up so they look good no matter what.

I agree with Josh, somthing sounds off here… they found the car abondon at the golf course and they picked up this guy where exactly? and he thought his car was at his house?? why would he do donuts in the grass then just leave the car there and what, walk home?? sounds like someone took this guys car out for a joy ride and the police were instructed by mamaroneck officles to make an example out of who ever they cought to protect their future investment, even though it sounds as if he wasnt even the driver… sounds more like his car was taken for a joy ride by someone else and the cops cant figure out who did it but they “have” to blame someone right??
