Port Chester Cat’s Ears Almost Cut Off
A Parker Street woman’s house-cat missing since late February was discovered Sunday hiding in her 10 Parker St. rear yard with half each ear cut off .
“Nene” is one of three totally in-house cats Liz Torres owns. He likes to hid, she said so when the family went away in mid-February they thought nothing of not seeing him and the friend who took care of the cats thought Nene was with Torres’s father.
Once she was home, Torres could not find the 7-year-old pet she has had since he was six weeks. Recently a downstairs neighbor said he had seen the cat in the rear yard.
Climbing through the neighbor’s bedroom window, Torres said she set a purchased trap for the cat Sunday and heard it snap around midnight Monday.
Torres initially thought the cat had been injured in a fight. She brought the half-Himalayan black cat to a North Main Street vet for shots and tests to make sure he had not contracted any illnesses in his two-month experience.
Dr. Howard Levy examined the cat and told police and Torres that someone had used a very sharp instrument, scissors or knife, to amputate part of the animal’s ears.
Police ask that anyone with information on what happened to the Parker Street house pet give police a call at 914-939-1000.
Nene is walking around the house he shares with his sister and another cat now, Torres said.
“I am happy he is home…I feel badly for what happened to him,” Torres said. Nene sleeps with her now; she said she keeps him close. Despite what he has been through, he is still affectionate, Torres said.

Whoever did that to the cat should have his goolies cut off with a very dull and rusty chainsaw.
