Port Chester building official suspended amid probe

The village’s Acting Building Inspector, Frank Ruccolo, has been suspended without pay as he faces disciplinary charges, officials said today.

Village Manager Christopher Russo said he could not reveal the nature of the charges or say anything further about the case. Port Chester police said last week that they had begun an investigation relating to property records at the Building Department, and closed off access to the office at 222 Grace Church St. The department is functioning from within the village clerk’s office across the hall.

The disciplinary charges were served by Russo’s assistant, Robert Lombardi, and will be handled by a hearing officer. The suspension was effective Monday.

Ruccolo’s annual base salary as assistant building inspector was $88,000; $113,000 including overtime and a stipend.
