Port Chester Fest leaps into action for third year

Posted by: Leah Rae - Posted in Port Chester, Rye Town, Uncategorized on May 22, 2010

The third annual Port Chester fest was blessed with good weather for the first time. A wide assortment of performers took the stage, and then a couple of Peruvian dancers performed the amazing “scissors dance” that originates in the southern Peruvian highlands.

As someone described it to me, it’s basically Peruvian break dance.

That’s Luis Aguilar, above. He performed with Walter Velille, below, who has traveled to Europe to demonstrate the “danza de las tijeras.” Both live in Port Chester.
