The Port Chester building official who was suspended amid a police investigation has filed for retirement July 30.
Acting Building Inspector Frank Ruccolo wrote a letter to village officials about his intent to retire after almost 10 years working for the department, Village Manager Christopher Russo said yesterday. Disciplinary charges are still pending against Ruccolo. The charges, and the reason for the police investigation, have not been disclosed. Ruccolo remains suspended without pay.
Police closed the Building Department office for several days in early May during an investigation into records. The office has since reopened.
