The City of New Rochelle is assembling a Hazards Mitigation Plan as a step toward being eligble for certain FEMA funding. The plan is being developed over the next year by Tetra Tech EM Inc. of Rockaway, N.J., using FEMA grant money.
The goal is to identify projects that can reduce damages from future natural hazards, including flooding, severe storms, severe winter storms, and earthquakes. There is an online questionnaire the city is asking residents to fill out by Sept. 1 at http://www.newrochelleny.com/mitigationplan. The city says the 23-question survey will take about five minutes to complete. More information on the plan is available at http://www.newrochelleny.com/hazardmitigation under “Quick Links.” For additional information and/or comments, please contact Omar Small, the assistant to the city manager, at 914-654-2142 or email@example.com.
