Artie Bruno Jr. of Larchmont sent us this report of a late-July family reunion with lots of local ties:
“The family of the late Michele and Raffaela Bruno, the original owners of the Larchmont Tavern, held their family reunion on July 23-25. The family numbers 177 offspring from the 11 children: Josephine Mastocciolo, Arthur Bruno, Caroline Anderson, of Larchmont; Michael Bruno, of Atascadero, CA; Gloria Moll, of Bedford MA; and Rose Salvatore, Virginia Cantwell, Mary Lund, Frances Fuller, Florence Bittner and George Bruno, who are all deceased. Caroline Anderson has since passed away on July 29.
“One hundred and eighty family members out of the total 250 traveled from all over the country to attend the Bruno Family Reunion. The 180 members included 39 grand children, 87 great-grand children, and 51 great-great grand children.
“The three day family affair kicked off with the Bruno Cup golf outing held at Sterling Farms golf course in Stamford, Conn. Golf was followed by a pizza dinner party in Larchmont, at the American Legion in Flint Park. On Saturday, a 10 hour outdoor event was held at the Italian Center in Stamford CT. The day featured many activities such as volleyball, bocciball, softball, horseshoes, swimming, relay races, and of course, tons of food and picture taking. On Sunday, brunch was served at one of the grandchildren’s homes in Stamford. Family members were able to say their goodbyes until next time, and have a bite to eat before their journeys home. The reunions are held every five years.”
