New Rochelle police blotter: Iona student reports mugging
Mayflower Avenue: A 19-year-old Iona College student was tackled to the ground, punched in the face and robbed of his BlackBerry cell phone early Tuesday, police said. He told police he was attacked from behind by several thugs at 128 Mayflower Ave. at 1:10 a.m. He declined medical attention.
Mount Joy Place: A 2003 Yamaha motorcycle worth over $3,000 was stolen from a home on Mount Joy Place, New Rochelle police said. The 29-year-old New Rochelle man who owns the motorcycle said it was stolen between 6:30 p.m. Monday and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Winthrop Avenue: A 42-year-old New Rochelle woman was arrested after she stabbed her boyfriend in the back with a kitchen knife, city police said. Shalon Jackson of 81 Winthrop Ave., was arrested in her apartment at 4:57 a.m. Wednesday after allegedly plunging a knife into her 42-year-old boyfriend, New Rochelle Detective Capt. Joseph Schaller said. They two had been involved in a heated domestic dispute that “degenerated and became physical,” Schaller said. The victim, a New Rochelle resident, refused medical attention, Schaller said. Jackson was charged with second-degree assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon, a felony.
Lincoln Avenue: A 31-year-old New Rochelle woman told police that someone smashed a window on her 2003 Honda that was parked near 95 Lincoln Ave. The car was parked on the street between Friday and Monday.
