New Rochelle police blotter: Car ransacked at library
North Avenue: Herminio Ramierez, 25, of 257 Washington Ave. in New Rochelle was arrested for driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level more than .08, both misdemeanors, police said. He was arrested at 3:20 a.m. Saturday on North and Winthrop avenues.
Division Street: James Abel II, 54, of 15 Division St., was arrested for third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, in the apartment building where he lives. Police said at 1 a.m. Sunday Abel punched a hole in a wall on the second floor and severely damaged the railings on the stairs.
Kings Highway: Two men stripped two tires off of a 2008 Honda Accord that was parked near Kings Highway at 4:25 a.m. Sunday and sped away in a blue Dodge Caravan, police said. A neighbor of the car owner spotted the suspects stealing the tires and called the police.
One Library Plaza: A 2010 Toyota Suburban that was parked in the parking lot of the New Rochelle Library at 1 Library Plaza was broken into and 150 compact discs were stolen, police said. The theft happened between noon and 3:15 p.m. Sunday. The owner found the car ransacked. The door to the car was left opened.
Albermarle Avenue: The right passenger window of a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro that was parked on Albemarle Avenue was broken between 7 p.m. Friday and Sunday morning. A printer, camera and laptop, all worth $1,200 combined, were stolen from the car.
