Rye hires two police officers

Posted by: Leslie Korngold - Posted in Police & Fire, Rye on Jan 10, 2011

With financial woes hanging over its head and being down in manpower due to attrition and disability, the Rye City Police Department hired two new officers.

Brandon M. Amlung and Jonathan Klein were appointed police officers in the City of Rye Police Department effective January 10, 2011. They were sworn in at Rye City Hall on Friday, January 7, 2011.

Police Officer Amlung, 22, a native of Pearl River, is a graduate of Manhattan College and the New York City Police Academy. He served as a New York City Police Cadet. His father, Glen Amlung, is a retired New York City police officer. Officer Amalung is to the near right in the adjacent photo.

Police Officer Klein, 22, a lifelong Harrison resident, is a graduate of Harrison High School. He also follows a family legacy in law enforcement; his grandfather, Albert Klein, was former Chief of Police of the Town of Harrison. Officer Klein is to the far right in the adjacent photo.

Officer Klein will be assigned to the Westchester County Police Academy for recruit training. Officer Amlung will be assigned to Rye police department’s field training program, a structured curriculum designed to familiarize newly hired officers with the community and departmental procedures under the guidance of experienced officers.
