New Rochelle student part of SCRABBLE scramble

Posted by: Ned P. Rauch - Posted in New Rochelle on Apr 12, 2011

A select group of wordy middle schoolers from Westchester County are spelling their way down to Orlando, Fla., this weekend to compete in the National School SCRABBLE Championship.

The Word Wizards of Westchester, that’s Kevin Rosenberg, an eighth grader from New Rochelle, and Mack Meller, a fifth grader from Bedford, will take on Seth Tilliss, a sixth grader from Bedford and his out-of-county teammate, Matthew O’Connor, and dozens of teams from around the country this Friday and Saturday, all vying for national honors and a top prize of $10,000.

Click here to watch a short film about the contest.

Here’s hoping for useful tiles and triple-word-scores for all.
