From the Rye Neck area, Vicky Betzig sent us a good-news story “about 5 fourth grade girls from F.E. Bellows School who spent a week planning a lemonade stand to raise money for the Red Cross. They made friendship bracelets, Mother’s Day Cards, brownies, cookies and lemonade to sell. They spent their free time in school and at home making fliers to put around the neighborhood and even made a website (Sweetstitches.webs.com). The girls set up their stand on the corner of Taylors Lane and Shadow Lane in Mamaroneck. They raised just under $70 which the parents equaled, totalling approximately $140.00 The girls donated their funds to natural disaster relief with the Alabama victims in mind.
With these times of depressing news, we thought it might be nice to read a feel good story about giving,” she wrote.
The photo, from Betzig, shows the girls: Georgia Meyers, Elizabeth Farassat, Tori Betzig, Nicole Pereira, Maggie Victory.
