RYE — Vincenzo “Vinny” Tamburro, the city’s building inspector, died Wednesday while assessing storm damage with state officials. He was 47.
He was a member of the New York State Building Officials Conference, National Fire Protection Agency, and the American Public Works Association.
Tamburro had 24 years of experience working with three different municipalities – including difficult conditions during the most recent storm.
According to a press release from the City Manager’s Office:
He was a treasured friend and colleague to the Rye City staff. He is survived by his wife, Karen, two daughters Taylor and Morgan, and two sons Jake and Kyle.
Mayor Douglas French noted “the City is filled with great sadness today with the sudden passing of Vinny Tamburo. In his quiet and principled way, Vinny served with great dedication and made Rye a much better place. He is missed and will be for a very long time. Our hearts go out to his wife Karen and 4 beautiful children.”
