The New Rochelle Fire Department is slated to receive $316,080 in federal funds from a grant program administered by the Department of Homeland Security. Sen. Charles Schumer announced the grant award Wednesday and said the fire department planned to use the money to update its breathing equipment and buy thermal imaging cameras.
“This investment will be a big help to the New Rochelle Fire Department, better equipping our first responders to quickly and safely respond to emergencies,” Schumer said in a news release. “These funds will also guarantee that our local first responders have the critically important life-saving devices that allow them to do their work as efficiently and safely as possible.”
