The Third Annual Westchester Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk in Memory of Gigi Shanes-Hernandez will take place Sunday, April 22 at 9:30 a.m. at Rye Town Park and Playland Park, in Rye.
Shanes-Hernandez, a lifelong resident of Rye, died April 9, 2009 after an 11-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Her husband, Stephen, and their daughter, Tara, organized the walk in her memory. Last year’s event raised more than $306,000.
Money raised in Shanes-Hernandez’s name will go to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
