NEW ROCHELLE
A Lincoln Avenue family thwarted theeĀ thieves trying to steal a motorcycle over the weekend, police said.
Police are trying to determine if the same thieves actually succeeded in stealing a motorcycle on a different street.
Detective Capt. Joseph Schaller said it was “odd” that thieves tried to steal two motorcycles in a 24-hour period.
At 5:51 a.m. Sunday, a Lincoln Avenue family woke up to noises and spotted three men dragging their 2006 Honda away from their home.
When the family went outside to see what was going on, the spooked thieves dropped the motorcycle and ran.
Between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday, a 2007 Kawasaki worth $5,300 was stolen from outside a Pinebrook Road home.
“It is coincidental,” Schaller said of the two incidents.
The two homes are not near each other.
