Both revenue and attendance are down at Playland through mid-July compared to last year, according to figures provided to the Westchester Board of Legislators Government Operations Committee this week.
As of July 15, 193,749 people went to the county-owned amusement park this year compared to 205,825 last year. The park brought in just under $4.2 million for season passes, day passes and other revenue compared with more than $4.7 million through July 17, 2011.
The county is looking at a series of proposals for revitalizing the park with the goal of making it self-supporting. Playland has required a $3 million taxpayer subsidy each year for several years.
