An opportunity to ballot petition for the Independence Party line in the 93rd Assembly District in northeast Westchester, Harrison and north and east White Plains was invalidated in State Supreme Court in Westchester Thursday, ending the only potential primary in race.
An opportunity to ballot line allows voters to write in the name of a candidate who did not get permission from the party to run on the line. Democrat David Buchwald is the endorsed Independence Party candidate. He is also on the Democratic and Working Families Party lines.
Incumbent Republican Bob Castelli is on the Republican and Conservative lines.
To be successful, the petition needed 184 valid signatures; 285 were submitted and in the end it fell 10 short.
