I’ve long known about Union Avenue Liquors, with its many, many varieties of tequila in New Rochelle’s West End.![]()
I’ve been there a few times over the years, and it seemed that every time I asked the owner exactly how many types of tequila she offered, the number grew larger. I don’t remember what the last number was, but it was nowhere near 900, which is how many types of beer are offered at a new store in the city’s North End, The Beer Necessities. And these are not the first noteworthy tidbits about liquid refreshment to come from New Rochelle. In 1997, liquor importer Sidney Frank was based in the city when he introduced Grey Goose vodka to the world. The brand was later bought by Bacardi.
