According to the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN), some 15 million Americans (more than a third of whom are children) have a food allergy. Food allergies account for hundreds of thousands of hospital visits per year and are the leading cause of anaphylaxis.
On Saturday, Oct. 13, FAAN will stage the third annual Walk for Food Allergy in Westchester in Glen Island Park in New Rochelle. It is one of 45 walks scheduled around the country intended to raise awareness about food allergies. Last year’s Westchester walk raised more than $200,000.
Registration begins at 9 a.m.; the walk starts at 10 a.m. For more information, visit www.foodallergywalk.org/westchester_ny12
