Mariano Rivera, Walt Frazier and other sports greats will help New Rochelle-based Steiner Sports celebrate its 25 `anniversary, and will also be aiding hurricane victims and other charities, starting with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday.
Yankees pitching legend Don Larsen and basketball coach Bob Knight will join County Executive Rob Astorino and Brendan Steiner, chief executive of the sports memorabilia company, in kicking off three days of celebrations 10 a.m. Monday at the company’s headquarters at 145 Huguenot Ave., New Rochelle.
“The holiday season is a time for giving, and we felt that there was no better way to celebrate this milestone thanmore-> to team with Steiner athletes and coaches to give back to their favorite charity,” said Steiner, a Scarsdale resident. “It is an unprecedented event for a landmark occasion.”
Astorino will present the company with a proclamation.
Later in the week, former Yankees and Mets great Doc Gooden and Rangers star Ryan Callahan will autograph items for the Empire State Relief Fund to assist the Sandy victims in the New York area, the company said.
In all, 25 greats will sign items for the “Steiner 25th Anniversary Charity Collection,” the company announced. Some will be auctioned off to benefit charities of their choice while other items will be sold in an on-line auction to benefit the victims of Superstorm Sandy.
