Nicholas Bilotta, an eighth grader at Louis M. Klein Middle School, in Harrison, has raised $3,100 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
As a member of the National Junior Honor Society, Bilotta, 13, was required to choose a charity for which to raise money. His mother, Susan, said he opted for Make-A-Wish because he “loved what the organization represented.”
Bilotta raised the money by spending long hours after school and on weekends selling raffle tickets outside DeCicco Family Market, in Harrison. The drawing will be Friday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m. The prizes are an iPad 3 and a $100 iTunes gift certificate, which Bilotta’s parents donated.
The $3,100 is about half of Bilotta’s goal. Susan Bilotta said her son will begin a new round of fund-raising following Friday’s drawing.
DeCicco is at 7 Halstead Ave., in Harrison.
