Sound Shore Medical Center Announces 2013 Vitt Honorees
Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester is pleased to announce the 2013 Vitt Award Honorees, Berdie Stein and the Rotary Club of New Rochelle, and wants to invite the public to celebrate their accomplishments at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle.
New Rochelle, NY – January 29, 2013 – The Friends of Sound Shore Medical Center (SSMC) (Friends) are pleased to announce the 2013 Marie F. Vitt Humanitarian Award (Vitt) honorees. Berdie Stein and the Rotary Club of New Rochelle will be recognized on Friday, March 8 at 7:00 PM at Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle.
This annual Award was created by the Friends to honor the legacy of Marie F. Vitt, SSMC’s former Chairman of the Board of Governors, who is remembered for her volunteerism, spirit of philanthropy, and commitment to her community and Sound Shore Medical Center. Each year the recipients of this prestigious award are selected for their good works that exemplify the humanitarianism and spirit of this extraordinary woman.
Berdie Stein’s support of Sound Shore Medical Center began when she enthusiastically offered her home for one of the stops on SSMC’s annual House Tour. For the last three years, she has been a member of the Friends of Sound Shore Medical Center Board and has served as home selection vice chair for the House Tour. In addition, she has been a Team Captain for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer as well as supporting fundraisers for children’s causes in Westchester.
Rotary Club of New Rochelle is being honored as Community Volunteers. The organization’s motto: Service before Self has left a positive imprint on Sound Shore Medical Center and the services it provides. The Club’s Annual Golf Outing has benefitted the Coat Drive for SSMC’s Outpatient Pediatric Clinic patients the last two years. In addition, the membership has made a donation to Cappelli Diabetes Center and has a 35-year history of sponsoring an annual blood drive on behalf of Sound Shore patients.
In addition to highlighting the accomplishments of community leaders, the Vitt also features a Silent Auction featuring extraordinary trip packages, golf foursomes, artwork, home accessories, and specialty items. This year, the event will feature BidPal – “a nod to the electronic age”. This interactive wireless automated bidding process will allow guests to enjoy all aspects of the evening and stay actively engaged in bidding on their “must have” items. The proceeds from this special evening will benefit Sound Shore Medical Center’s Emergency Services Department.
It is with great pleasure that Sound Shore Medical Center invites you to join in the celebration of these extraordinary honorees, who through their involvement and achievements continue the spirit of Marie Vitt.
