MAMARONECK The Town Board will hold a public hearing Wednesday on a provision that will allow the town to assess condominiums the same way it does single-family homes.
The so called “Homestead Option” can only be adopted by a municipality when it undergoes a community-wide revaluation of its property. Mamaroneck is currently completing its revaluation.
About 650 of the town’s 1,000 condos would qualify for homestead status.
Nikica Rendic, a resident of Harbor Hills Condominiums, said she opposes the provision. Her taxes would more than double if the provision is adopted, she said.
The public hearing will be held at 8 p.m. at the Mamaroneck Town Center, 740 West Boston Post Road.
