Port Chester- unlike any other community in New York State – is using cumulative voting in today’s election for six village trustees.
The system, adopted in 2010, is a result of the Department of Justice’s successful voting rights lawsuit against the village. It is an alternative to the more traditional remedy of voting districts. Here’s a video on how it works. See portchestervotes.org for more information about the local election.
