Port Chester’s outgoing Mayor Dennis Pilla says he has faith and hope in the challenger who ousted him Tuesday.
“I do see him as a strong leadership figure, which I think will be good for Port Chester,” he said of Neil Pagano, who will become mayor next month. “I think the village is well positioned for him to carry the torch forward.”
Pilla, a Democrat, tapped Pagano to serve as chair of the village Industrial Development Agency and member of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. Pagano has no personal party affiliation but ran on the GOP, Conservative and Independence lines.
Pilla will preside at the April 1 village board meeting. Pagano and the rest of the newly elected village board will hold a reorganization meeting April 2.
