The New Rochelle Public Library will close Tuesday to inspect for bedbugs after one of the pests was found in the building, library officials announced Monday.
After the bug was found, pest management workers with a trained dog inspecting the library on Monday discovered evidence of bedbugs in three places – a desk, a drawer and another piece of furniture – all in areas that are off-limits to the public, the library said. All three articles were destroyed, the library said.
Officials plan to re-open the library Wednesday.
“Although the pest management firm has assured us that, given the size of the building, the areas affected and the amount of activity is small, we are taking all possible measure to protect our patrons and staff,” said library director Tom Geoffino.
The Huguenot Chidren’s Library will remain open Tuesday.
