Here’s news submitted from the Local Summit Board Member Harold Wolfson:
The Local Summit public meeting on Tuesday, May 21, will look at the controversial question: what is the future of Rye Playland. The 85-year old art deco amusement park which opened this season on May 11th has been losing money and attendance for years according to County Executive Rob Astorino and he says this cannot continue.
After reviewing a number of publicly solicited proposals for revitalization of the park, he has chosen the Sustainable Playland Inc. group to turn things around. That organization’s president, Kim M. Morque, will give the Summit meeting details of how his group plans to do it.
Since this plan requires approval of the County Board of Legislators, and to date a number of legislators have been vocal critics of the plan, the upcoming meeting is expected to provide a lively exchange of pros and cons.
The Tuesday, May 21st Summit meeting will take place at 7:45 a.m. at the Nautilus Diner at 1240 W. Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck.
