Here’s news form the village:
Notice of Night Construction Work
Intersection of Boston Post Road and North/South Barry Avenue
Drainage Improvement Project
For the Time Frame of Monday, August 5 to Saturday August 10, 2013
Hours of construction will be 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Dear Neighbors and Mamaroneck Business Persons:
To answer some questions that have been submitted to the Village regarding the night construction that will be taking place at the intersection of Boston Post Road and North/South Barry Avenue, we have the following additional information:
1. Noise—We apologize for any noise that may be caused by the road construction work. Working with the State DOT they did not recommend or want to allow day-time construction due to the major impacts on traffic that will lead to significant traffic congestion. That is why we have the goal of keeping the construction to a 5-day time frame as much as possible. We will convey to the contractor that they should make every effort to restrict noise and be mindful that the construction is taking place at night, and that any shouting or honking of horns will be prohibited.
2. 7 p.m. start time—Some people have submitted this is too late, and others have submitted that this is too early. Upon coordination with the State DOT they recommended this time frame based on their experience with traffic peaks.
3. Lane Closures, not road closure—There will be lane closures in relation to this construction. While Boston Post Road will remain open to traffic, due to the lane closures and anticipated traffic congestion, we are recommending everyone avoid this intersection as much as possible.
We apologize for this inconvenience, and appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
Very truly yours,
