Fundraising chairman Joe Nunziata said about $7,000 would cover expenses for a child and parent to fly to the United States and stay with a Pelham host family while preparing for surgery at a New York City hospital and recuperating from it.
Another $40,000 would fund a two-week “miracle mission” that sends doctors and nurses overseas to perform life-saving surgery on dozens of children.
Contributors can donate as individuals or as part of a group.
The club will host a “Tastings IX” fundraiser, featuring food, wine, live music and a silent auction, from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the New York Athletic Club on Travers Island in Pelham Manor. Tickets are $75.
Check are payable to “The Pelham Rotary Charities Fund” and should be mailed to The Rotary Club of The Pelhams, c/o Lyn Roth-Jacobs, 47 Iden Avenue, Pelham, NY 10803.
