Rye Brook blotter: Thefts at Port Chester High, Doral Arrowwood;05.11.11

RYE BROOK
Port Chester High School: About $450 was stolen from a small purse kept in a locked closet in a classroom. The theft was discovered May 5.

Anderson Hill Road: $110 was stolen from a guest’s room at the Doral Arrowwood May 7.

Rye: 32 pink flamingos stolen from church youth group05.11.11

RYE

Hillside Road: 32 pink flamingos set out for sale on home’s front lawn were reported stolen at noon May 8. The plastic birds were being sold as a fundraiser for the Rye Presbyterian Church youth group to benefit HIV positive orphans in Ethiopia.

Rye blotter: Home egged; fake licenses; bike stolen; more05.11.11

Midland Avenue: Both the driver and passenger in a speeding car face a felony charge after presenting false Washington state driver’s licenses to police May 4. Police said Gerardo M. Rodriguez, 33, of 268 Locust Ave., Port Chester, was speeding in a school zone. He presented a photocopy of a Washington state driver’s license but was in fact unlicensed. When asked for identification, his passenger, Juana Silva Torres, 32, of 15 Read St., Port Chester, also presented a false Washington state license, police said. Both were charged with felony second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. Rodriguez was also charged with two violations, being an unlicensed driver and speeding.

Cowles Avenue: A home and car were found egged at 9:19 a.m. May 5.

Bradford Avenue: A navigation system was stolen from a vehicle while it was parked in a home’s driveway from May 2-3. The theft was reported May 5. The car was not damaged.

Florence Avenue: A boy’s bicycle was stolen from an open garage between May 2 and May 3. The theft was reported May 6.

Old Post Road: A Mount Vernon man caught in the middle of a three-car rear end accident at 2 p.m. May 7 was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center experiencing head pain. No one else was injured. No one was cited. The other drivers were a Pound Ridge man, 59, and a Rye woman, 45.

Port Chester blotter: Girl finds burglary; car stolen during deli stop; more05.11.11

PORT CHESTER
Midland Avenue: An 11-year-old girl arrived home to find her family’s apartment burglarized at 12:30 p.m. May 10. Police said the apartment door locks had been ripped from the jamb and door. A laptop and an unspecified amount of woman’s jewelry had been stolen while the family was out during the morning.

Westchester Avenue: A stranger jumped into the car that had been left running in front of a 197 Westchester Ave. delicatessen for just a minute and drove off. The owner saw his red 2004 Nissan Ultima being stolen at 5:29 p.m. May 6 but could not stop the thief.

Willett Avenue: A 1996 Acura Integra was stolen from the 550 block between May 9 and 10.

Sands Street: A 1995 Honda Civic was stolen between 9:30 p.m. May 9 and 9:30 a.m. May 10.

South Main Street: Two apartments were burglarized in a 16 S. Main St. building during the day May 10. One apartment door was found ajar and two laptop computers stolen. The other apartment also did not show forced entry, but a padlock was broken off a dresser. Nothing was stolen.

Leonard Street: A laptop computer an two yellow metal bracelets were stolen from a basement apartment between 11:35 a.m. and 4 p.m. May 6. There did not appear to be any forced entry or ransacking of the apartment.

Pearl Street: $3,660 in power carpentry tools and a wheelbarrow were stolen from a basement storage area in 130 Pearl St. overnight. The burglary was reported May 10 when the owner found the lock broken off his storage closet and the equipment gone.

Pelham Manor blotter: Theft from car; photo equipment stolen05.11.11

PELHAM MANOR
Wolfs Lane: A $250 bag containing $300 in gift cards, credit cards, and $250 in video games was stolen from an unlocked car parked in a home’s driveway May 6 to May 7. The bag was found hanging from a tree around the corner on Sherwood Avenue, and personal papers were found on a Sherwood Avenue neighbor’s front lawn.

Carol Place: $1,500 in photographic equipment and cases were stolen from a home May 5. There was no forced entry.

Mamaroneck blotter: Driving on flat for 2 hours; DWIs; lawn trashed05.11.11

MAMARONECK TOWN
Madison Avenue: A New Jersey man was accused of driving drunk after he told police he had been driving on his flat tire for two hours. Police pulled him over after spotting him driving on a shredded rear left tire at 9:30 p.m. May 7. Police said James Jackson Jr., 74, of 944 E. 28 St., Paterson, with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

North Chatsworth Avenue: The rear windshield of a 2006 Honda was shattered, possibly with a piece of asphalt found at the scene, between 10 p.m. May 6 and 7:50 a.m. May 7.

North Chatsworth Avenue: $10 cash and a valet key were stolen from a 2007 Honda while it was parked in the 16 N. Chatsworth lot between May 6 and 7.
MAMARONECK VILLAGE
Warren Street: A Mamaroneck village woman was accused of driving drunk after she plowed into two parked cars at 10:44 p.m. May 7. Police found Barbara Matthews, 54, a few blocks from the accident scene; her Nissan had front bumper and driver-side damage, police said. Matthews was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident, violation.

Boston Post Road: Ashley McDuffie, 21, of New Rochelle  was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident, a violation, after backing into a car and leaving the scene.

Boston Post Road: A 1000-block rear-end accident at 7:32 a.m. May 6 sent a Harrison woman, 37, to Sound Shore Medical Center with knee and neck pain. The other driver, a 43-year-old Carmel man, was not injured. No one was cited.

Boston Post Road: An 18 year-old Mamaroneck village woman was struck in the foot as she attempted to cross the Boston Post Road in the 400 block at 8:54 a.m. May 6. She was not in a crosswalk when a Honda sport utility vehicle hit her foot, police said. No one was cited.

Nautilus Lane: Garbage, mostly beer bottles, was found dumped all over a home’s front lawn at 7:19 a.m. May 8.

Mamaroneck Avenue: A 16-year-old New Rochelle girl was accused of using foul language to police and causing a scene when they were called to the 300 block because a group of people had overturned a planter at 2:53 a.m. May 8. She was charged with disorderly conduct, a violation. Her named was not disclosed.

Harrison blotter: Near-collision with cop car; fake license plates; graffiti05.11.11

HARRISON
Kenilworth Road: A Connecticut woman driving drunk on the wrong side of the road swerved just in time to avoid a head-on collision with a police cruiser at 3:15 a.m. May 1, police said. Police said Michelle L. Rivera, 28, of Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, was heading west in the eastbound lane near Mittman Road when the near miss occurred. She told police she was coming from Stamford and had had two drinks, police said. Police did not know why she wound up in Harrison. Rivera was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and ticketed for crossing the highway markings.

Westchester Avenue: A 44-year-old Mount Vernon man who obscured the expiration date on his illegal North Carolina license plates faces a felony charge. Police stopped Adam E. Ellison of 238 S. First Ave. at 10:05 a.m. April 30 when they could not make out the expiration date on the plates, police said. Police said Ellison, unemployed, could not afford to re-register his car in New York in January and bought the North Carolina plates for $80 from a man he met at the Bronx Zoo. Ellison’s driver’s license had been suspended in late April for his failure to answer a summons in Eastchester, police said. Ellison was charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle, misdemeanor and failure to register a vehicle, a violation.

Columbus Avenue: Graffiti was discovered spray painted on three sides of a U.S. Postal Service mailbox at 10:22 a.m. May 6.

Larchmont blotter: theft of gas; theft from business05.11.11

LARCHMONT
Palmer Avenue: $300 in merchandise was stolen from a business during the day May 4. All the unspecified stolen items had been on display in the morning. Police did not release the name of the business.

Boston Post Road: A motorist left without paying $36 for gas he had pumped May 5.

Pelham mom charged with assault, hit daughter, 11, with belt, cops say05.09.11

PELHAM – A mother has been charged with assault after hitting her 11-year-old daughter with a belt, police said.

A couple of marks were spotted on the child at school, Detective Rick Deere said. The 40-year-old Lincoln Avenue mother, who has no other children, was arrested Friday afternoon for having assaulted her daughter earlier in the week, Deere said. Police charged the mother with misdemeanor third-degree assault. Police are withholding the mother’s name to protect the identity of the child.

The girl is now living with relatives but is still attending her regular school.

Sound Shore police blotter: fraudulent prescriptions with a twist, burglaries, really drunk drivers and more05.05.11

HARRISON

Anderson Hill Road: A 36-year-old Harrison man was accused of driving drunk
after police received reports of his vehicle mounting the sidewalk on North
Street at 9:50 p.m. April 24. Police said John O’Donnell was intoxicated
when stopped after police saw him swerving from lane to lane on Anderson
Hill Road. O’Donnell of 8 South Road was charged with misdemeanor driving
while intoxicated and ticketed for two traffic infractions.

LARCHMONT
Palmer Avenue: A chair customarily kept outside of a business was discovered
damaged April 24.
Larchmont Avenue: Unspecified items were discovered stolen from a Larchmont
Avenue apartment April 25. There was no forced entry. A list of stolen items
is being prepared.
Bonnet Avenue: An undetermined amount of jewelry was stolen from a home that
was broken into between April 18 and 25.
Palmer Avenue: A $600 bicycle was stolen from a Lot 1 bicycle rack April 26.
Chatsworth Avenue: A $1,300 bicycle was stolen from Lot 3 on April 26.
Boston Post Road: A Belmont, Mass., man who drove up on the front lawns of
two 2000-block homes at 8:15 a.m. April 27 was accused of driving under the
influence of drugs or alcohol, police said. Police are awaiting results of
tests, and have charged Richard Courtney, 23, with driving while ability
impaired, a misdemeanor. Police said Courtney¹s physical condition made it
clear he was not capable of driving. He damaged about $250 in landscaping at
one house and lost his license plate and did additional damage to a
neighboring house when he drove up onto the lawns, police said. He and his
disabled vehicle were found on Elm Avenue, about three blocks off of Boston
Post Road.
Boston Post Road: A woman left a fraudulent prescription at the 1310 Boston
Post Road CVS April 25. She never returned to pick up the order, police said.
Rockland Avenue: A bag containing $20 in clothes was stolen from an unlocked
car between 11:40 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. The owner saw someone exiting the car
and running away.

Boston Post Road: Police arrested Jennifer M. Principe, 26, of 5 Prospect
St., Oyster Bay, NY, May 4 for dropping off a fraudulent prescription for
oxycodone at the 1310 Boston Post Road CVS April 25. Principe was charged
with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, felony.
Valley Road: Citibank notified a Mamaroneck town resident May 2 that someone
tried to cash a $450 check against the resident¹s account. Police have not
determined where the attempt was made.

MAMARONECK VILLAGE

Hall Street: A 2009 Hyundai was stolen from a 700-block home¹s driveway late
April 27 or early April 28.
Rushmore Avenue: Two teens were treated for facial bruises after the
17-year-old driver accidentally hit the accelerator and struck a wall on the
900-block at 3:24 p.m. April 27. The driver was a Mamaroneck village woman.
Her passenger was a 15-year-old Larchmont resident.
Boston Post Road: An $800 laptop computer was stolen from a 1200-block
business between April 20 and 21. The theft was reported April 29.
Halstead Avenue: A 56-year-old Byram, Conn., man had a broken nose after
Joseph Raper, 32, allegedly punched him in the face at 12:47 a.m. April 30,
police said. The victim was taken to Sound Shore Medical Center. Raper of
Mamaroneck village  was charged with misdemeanor assault.
Hommocks Road:  Three mailboxes were discovered dented April 30.
Prospect Avenue: A woman¹s pocketbook was stolen from her home and the keys
inside used to steal her Buick around 11 p.m. April 30. The 2006 car was
found undamaged in Mount Vernon later. Police are still investigating and
would not release where the car was found in Mount Vernon.
Walton Avenue: A car was egged between 9 a.m. April 30 and midnight May 1.
Richbell Road: Fireworks were thrown out of an unidentified apartment window
at the rear of the 200-block apartment building shortly before 11 p.m. May1. Passers-by were not injured.
Boston Post Road: A handicap parking permit was stolen from a car between 6
p.m. May 2 and early May 3. No damage to the car was reported.
Mount Pleasant Avenue: A $350 bicycle was stolen from a home¹s back yard
between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. May 3.
Boston Post Road: A cellphone was stolen from a backpack on the 1000-block
May 4.

PELHAM MANOR

Pelham Parkway: Police are investigating the theft of a Fairway Market
employee’s wallet from her purse April 24. The theft was reported April 28.
The purple wallet containing $47 was removed from her purse which was stored
at her cash register.
Pelham Parkway: Two Bronx men were accused of stealing 25 wooden pallets
from the rear of Fairway Market for resale at Hunts Point, police said. Luis
Alberto Valentin-Morales, 41, of 1810 Lafayette Ave. and Lorenzo Mendoza,
43, of 1735 Lafayette Ave. were charged with petty larceny when they
returned to Fairway Market covered with wood splinters with their van
containing shards from the pallets at 8 p.m. April 28, police said. The men
thought the pallets were being thrown away, police said.
Pelhamdale Avenue: A man dressed in a light blue work shirt and dark blue
work pants tried to get a housekeeper to let him in to allegedly fix the
boiler at 2:20 p.m. April 27. He pulled on the door of a 400-block residence
before running off when the housekeeper went to call the homeowner to
confirm the service call, police said. The man was described as a male black
in his late 20s -early 30s, about 6 feet tall and 250 pounds. He was wearing
a navy Yankees cap.
Pelham Parkway: Two Bronx men were accused of stealing bails of corrugated
cardboard from Fairway Market April 28. Three bails worth $225 were found in
their van, police said. Richard Echevestre, 42, of 1262 Spafford Ave. and
Joel J. Suarez, 26, of 455 Jackson Ave. were charged with petty larceny.
Peace Street: Manhattan resident Jerame M. Morgan was accused of entering
six cars and stealing navigation systems, change, cellphones, jewelry and
assorted other property from five cars May 1, police said. Morgan, 20, of
225  Eighth Ave. took Pelham Manor police on a 45 minute tour of the Bronx
and Pelham Manor streets pointing out the cars he had entered or tried to
enter, police said. A Peace Street resident saw Morgan in her car and called
police. Morgan had stolen property on his person from unlocked cars on
Jackson, Washington and Grant avenues, Secor Lane, and Split Rock Road,
police said. Morgan was charged with five counts each of petty larceny and
fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, misdemeanors, and six
counts of trespass, a violation.

PELHAM VILLAGE
Fourth Avenue: Two parts of a vehicle roof rack were stolen while the car
was parked in upper Lot 2 between 8:45 p.m. April 20 and 8 a.m. April 27.
Clifford Avenue: Three cars were entered at different homes late April 26 or
early April 27. A navigation system was stolen from a 2001 Honda Odyssey and
loose change was stolen from a 1997 Honda Accord.

PORT CHESTER
Oak Street: Two men carrying a case of beer were assaulted, one slashed with
a broken bottle, when they would not give beers to two passers-by at 5 a.m.
April 25. The victims, 29 and 31 of Port Chester, were carrying the case
into an Oak Street multifamily residence, when two short men started a fight
over not being given beers out of the case, police said. The 29-year-old was
taken to White Plains Hospital Medical Center bleeding heavily from his
right arm.
Puritan Drive: $3,600 in men’s and woman’s jewelry was stolen from a home
between May 1 and 2. The rear door was found unlocked.
North Main Street: A man showing a New Jersey driver’s license rented a 2011
Chevrolet Tahoe from Enterprise Rent-A-Car using a fraudulent credit card
April 29. The vehicle, due back Monday, has not been returned. Port Chester
police said the car rental business is also working with Westchester County
police because several other car rental locations have had similar
incidents.

South Main Street: The owner of The Bird House spent the night in his shop
after noticing someone had cut the store window with a glass cutter right in
front of two $3,000 birds May 3. The 6 South Main St. store owner was
worried someone was planning to come back and steal the birds that night. He
had to have the window replaced.

RYE
Purchase Street: An envelope containing a BP gas credit card was stolen from
the mailbox at the victim¹s place of employment between April 27 and 28.
Five unauthorized charges were made against the card in the Bronx.
Midland Avenue: An iPhone and wallet were stolen near the Rye Rec basketball
court around 4:45 p.m. April 30.
Boston Post Road: A Bronx man, 57, was charged with misdemeanor petty
larceny after he climbed out of a God’s Property Clothing Drop Box in the
1121 Boston Post Road lot May 1. Police said Steven A. Campbell of 1403
Taylor Ave. had the equivalent of two tall paper bags of clothing, some
brand new, that he had stolen from the donation box.

RYE BROOK
Westchester Avenue: Paraco Gas employees’ personal information may have been
compromised after someone broke into the company’s 800 Westchester Ave.
human resources office May 4. Nothing was stolen, but a filing cabinet had
been broken into.
King Street: A snowblower was stolen from a storage room at 1186 King St.
The theft was reported May 3.
Doral Greens Drive: About $5,000 in jewelry was stolen from a home between
12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. May 3. A window screen was cut for entry; the thief
fled out the front door, leaving it unlocked.
South Ridge Street: Police accused Keisha L. Murrell, 23, of 385 East 183
St., Bronx, of presenting a fraudulent prescription for 180 oxycodone
tablets at the 253 S. Ridge St. CVS at 2:46 p.m April 29. The name of the
medical provider and the telephone number on the form were fake, police
said. Police arrested Murrell at a second CVS at 182 South Ridge St. when
she tried to pass another fraudulent prescription the same day, police said. Murrell was
charged with felony second-degree criminal possession of a forged
instrument.
South Ridge Street: A man pulled the you-gave-me-the-wrong-change scam at
the 115 South Ridge Street Hudson City Savings Bank and walked out with an
extra $90 at 3:19 p.m. April 29.
