Kemper Park Memorial Observance05.30.10

Fred Runfola of Mamaroneck, who served with the U.S. Army 101st Calvary in WWII, salutes during a Memorial Day ceremony at Kemper Park Memorial in Mamaroneck.   Runfola is the past commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars 271 of the Bronx.

New Rochelle Memorial Day Flag replacement05.30.10

Eugen Longhi of New Rochelle, a member of American Legion Post 8, puts a flag at the site of his friend, Pvt. Demetrius Caridi, who serve with him in WWII at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in New Rochelle. Local veterans, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts and members of the community swapped out American flags at the grave sites of veteran.

Walk MS04.18.10

Karen Schlotter, 44, of Mamaroneck, below, was diagnosed with MS in 2000 and was moved by the outpouring of support by the people who participated Walk MS to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis which kicked off from Rye Playland.  Schlotter said “it’s something else. It lifts the spirit knowing that these people are here for you.”  Over 11,000 people were expected to attend the two day event at seven different locations, including the 3 mile walk in Rye where several thousand showed up

Ex-Eastchester Cop Faces Justice11.19.09

PILEGGIThis is the second time that I have attempted to photo ex-Eastchester Police Officer James Pileggi as he exited New Rochelle City Court in connection to the fatal shooting of a friend when he was showing him a laser equipped hand gun.  The first time he came out of court with a jacket pulled over his head guilded out by his mother.  I was finally able to catch up with him as he spoke to his lawer John Pappalardo after his court appearance.  (Ricky Flores / The Journal News )
