Endale, who is from Ethiopa, was among four African members of the Westchester Track Club, who along with Mike Barnow, coach of the track club, held running workshops for students throughout the school day. After learning about aspects of how the runners lived in their home countries, the kids worked with the runners on stretching exercises and then ran running drills with them. Beth El Synagogue Center holds annual Holocaust Remembrance Day service • 05.01.11
Nat Futterman of New Rochelle, lights the first of six candles symbolizing the six million Jews killed during the Holocaust during the annual Yom Hashoah service at Beth El Synagogue Center in New Rochelle today. Yom Hashoah is the Jewish holiday of Holocaust remembrance. Futterman, a WW II veteran, was among the American soldiers who liberated Buchenwald, a Nazi concentration camp in Germany at the end of the war.
