New Rochelle: Tires stolen from 4 cars; vehicles left on cinder blocks05.11.12

NEW ROCHELLE

Owners of four cars at a luxury condominium on North Avenue found their cars on cinder blocks and all four tires on each stolen, New Rochelle police said.

The thefts were discovered Thursday morning, police Sgt. Robert Torr said.

The four cars were parked in an underground garage at 1273 North Ave. between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 7:55 a.m. Thursday.

Dog stolen during New Rochelle apartment break-in04.23.12

NEW ROCHELLE

An $800 black and white Shih Tzu dog was stolen from a city resident’s apartment during a burglary, police said.

The 34-year-old woman left her Franklin Avenue apartment at 3:40 p.m. Friday to pick up her children and when she returned at 8:14 p.m. the dog was missing from the apartment.

Police said the woman may have left her apartment door unlocked.

Nothing else was missing from the apartment.

New Rochelle: Mugger grabs woman’s bag on May Street04.23.12

NEW ROCHELLE

 A 53-year-old New Rochelle woman was mugged by a man who yanked her shoulder bag off her shoulder, police said today.

The woman was walking south on  May Street at 9:40 p.m. Saturday when the mugger approached her from behind, New Rochelle Detective Capt. Joseph Schaller said.

The mugger, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, yanked the bag off of her shoulder, knocking her to the ground, and then escaped with it, Schaller said.

Cars broken into and truck stolen04.18.12

Hudson Park Road—A 2008 Toyota Corolla that was parked near 96 Hudson Park Road was broken into during the early morning hours of April 18. A front passenger side window was broken and a $200 GPS stolen. The car is owned by a 44-year-old New Rochelle woman, police said.

Fern Street—A 1990 Mercedes Benz that was parked near 15 Fern St. between 8:45 p.m. April 15 and 9:16 a.m. April 16 was broken into, New Rochelle police said. The car, owned by a 62-year-old New Rochelle man, may have been left unlocked, police said. Stolen was a $150 GPS, credit cards the owner’s driver’s license stolen.

Potter Avenue—A 2007 Ford Truck that was parked near 41 Potter Ave. between 6 p.m. April 14 and 7 a.m. April 16 was stolen, New Rochelle police said. The 48-year-old man who owns the truck reported it stolen to police.

New Rochelle police probe car break-ins03.09.12

New Rochelle—City police are investigating a string of car break-ins on North Avenue.
Nine cars were broken into while parked in the area of the high school, New Rochelle police said.
The break-ins and thefts happened during the early morning hours of March 8. A passenger side window of each car was smashed to gain entry into the vehicle, police said.

New Rochelle: Motorcycle, FedEx truck collide02.28.12

NEW ROCHELLE

A motorcyclist suffered a leg injury today when his motorcycle and a FedEx truck collided at Webster Avenue and Main Street, police said.

The truck was making a turn about 10 a.m. when the accident occurred. The motorcyclist was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

No tickets were issued.

NEW ROCHELLE—The right side passenger window on a 1998 Mercedes Benz was smashed by someone who stole numerous electronics from the vehicle between Jan. 11 and Jan. 12, New Rochelle police said.
Two GPS systems worth $300, a $450 iPhone and a $495 car radio were stolen from the 26-year-old Manhattan resident’s car while it was parked on the 400 block of North Avenue, police said.

DPW Worker hit by car.02.13.12

A New Rochelle Department of Public Works employee was injured at 8:15 a.m. today when a car ran over his foot on Verrian Road, off of North Avenue.
Police described the injuries as minor. The man went to an area hospital. No one was arrested. No summonses were issued.

Pelham Road—Two tires worth $1,008 were stolen off of a 2012 Mercedes Benz that was parked on Pelham road between 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 and 7:30 a.m. Feb. 5., New Rochelle police said.

Palmer Road—Four tires worth $2,000 were stolen off of a 2012 Hundai that was parked at 2333 Palmer Ave. between 1 p.m. Feb. 5 and 6 a.m. Feb. 6., New Rochelle police said.

Radisson Plaza—A GPS and iPod worth $320 were stolen from a 2010 Honda parked on Radisson Plaza between 6 a.m. and noon Feb. 5. The passenger side window of the car was smashed to gain entry, New Rochelle police said.

Horton Avenue—An iPod was stolen from a 1999 Isuzu that was parked on Horton Avenue between 1 p.m. Feb. 4 and 11:20 p.m. Feb. 5.

New Rochelle police investigate stolen tires01.31.12

Circuit Road—Two tires were stolen off of a 2011 Honda Accord that was parked
on Circuit Road sometime between Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, New Rochelle police said.
The tires were worth $300. Police said the same thieves may have stolen two
tires from a 2011 Honda Accord that was parked on Elm Street between 3:15 and
4:30 a.m. Jan. 28.
