Take a peek in April’s Closet. You’ll never know what you’ll find! April Neuhaus, a New Rochelle mom, opened her high end consignment store last weekend at 168 Myrtle Avenue in Larchmont. The boutique-style store is filled with both new and gently used clothes, shoes, accessories and home decor. It’s a fun place to browse and shop. Those interested in donating consignment items must make an appointment with April. She can be reached at 914 630-1889. Items must be fashionable, seasonable, and in good condition.

What perfect weather there was for the annual “Promenade des Artistes” in Larchmont, held Friday and Saturday. Each year Westchester Accueil invites around 40 French artists to showcase their work on display in Larchmont homes. A portion of the art sales is designated for two local charities, the Abraham House in the Bronx and Entraide Francaise.
Lamb rules in Larchmont • 04.30.10

Friday Special
At Turquoise, the Turkish and Mediterranean Restaurant on Palmer Avenue in Larchmont, lamb rules! Lamb fans can choose among several dishes: Beytl, Grilled Kofte, Shish Kebabs, Mousaka, and the very popular Lamb Swarma. For those who don’t like lamb like myself, here’s a little secret. Every Friday for lunch, Turquoise makes a Chicken Swarma Special. For this Special Dish, thinly sliced chicken is prepared turkish-style over sliced warm pita bread with a touch of tomato sauce and yogurt on the side. It’s delish! But you better get their early! They only make one batch and it runs out fast!
Pantry pride for Larchmont volunteers • 04.28.10
Editor’s note: This is the latest post from Lynda LaMonte Garmong, our guest blogger from Larchmont:
It’s Tuesday morning at the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force Food Pantry. A big truck loaded with food pulls up to the curb, and my fellow volunteers and I are ready to spring into action. Down the ramp comes cereal, eggs, mac & cheese, soup, canned pineapple, peanut butter and lots and lots of produce. An assembly line is formed and each volunteer grabs a box to bring to a designated area in the room. In the middle of this organized chaos, you’ll find the Food Pantry President Melinda Lehman and volunteer Abby Katz directing volunteers and counting boxes. They need to make sure there is enough food for the estimated 350 families that will walk through the pantry doors that evening. As demand grows for the services of the Food Pantry during this economic downturn, there is a need for more volunteers. The Food Pantry distributes food twice a month, usually the second and fourth week. Volunteers are needed to unload on Tuesday mornings, pack that same afternoon and distribute both Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings. If you are interested in volunteering your time at the Food Pantry, send an email to volunteer@LMFoodPantry.org or visit the website (http://LMFoodPantry.org/) for more information.
Have you bookmarked us yet? Get ready to win • 02.24.10
A few of us from the Sound Shore team had a nice time yesterday (and a tasty meal) at the Nautilus diner in Mamaroneck, chatting with patrons and letting them know about our “Unofficial Mayor” contest next week here on the blog. You can win real stuff – real good stuff – a laptop and digital cameras. That seemed to get folks’ attention. Get all of the details here. We’ll be out in the local communities in the coming days spreading the word, but it’s up to you to come back and participate next week. We can’t wait to see what you have to say.
